August 27, 2025

Godrej Consumer Products Indonesia (GCPI), part of the Godrej Industries Group, officially began construction of a new factory in the Kendal Industrial Park on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Kendal Regent Dyah Kartika Permanasari, the Kendal Special Economic Zone Administrator, Kendal Industrial Park leadership, and strategic partners. The construction of this factory is a strategic step to strengthen GCPI's production capacity in Indonesia while bringing distribution closer to consumers across the country.

This new facility will produce a range of GCPI's flagship products that are widely known by the Indonesian public, such as HIT, Stella, and Mitu. This expansion is expected to create jobs, with a focus on implementing sustainable and environmentally friendly production standards. GCPI's new factory in Kendal is designed to be a modern production center that not only supports national demand but also expands export potential to the Southeast Asian region. This also reaffirms GCPI's commitment to making Indonesia an important manufacturing base in the regional supply chain.

In Indonesia, GCPI has been present since 2010 through the acquisition of PT Megasari Makmur, and now has production facilities in Bogor and Bekasi. GCPI leads the market in various categories. GCPI products are used by 1 in 4 households in Indonesia every day. This certainly makes Godrej one of the most influential FMCG players in the country.

Rajesh Sethuraman, CEO of PT Godrej Consumer Products Indonesia, said, “We believe Indonesia, especially Central Java, has a strategic role in the growth of our business. The presence of this factory is expected to have a real impact on Kendal Regency, through strengthening the local economy by increasing industrial activity, creating new jobs for the surrounding community, and committing to sustainable and environmentally friendly operations.”

Juliani Kusumaningrum, Executive Director of KEK Kendal, emphasized that GCPI's expansion in Kendal is clear evidence that KEK Kendal is capable of becoming the top choice for global investors. "In addition to supporting the creation of new jobs for the community, this investment further strengthens Kendal's position as a competitive and competitive industrial area. The presence of GCPI through the construction of a new factory in Kendal will certainly enrich the rapidly growing industrial ecosystem in this region," she said. This also reinforces the role of KEK Kendal as a modern manufacturing hub in Central Java that is capable of attracting global investment while driving economic growth.
