The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) said that the total investors in the Kendal Industrial Estate (KIK) had reached 60 companies. That number has exceeded the target originally launched by 50 companies this year. Director General of Industrial Regional Development (PPI) of the Ministry of Industry Imam Haryono stated that the anchor of the industrial area was PT Tat Wai Industries. The company is engaged in the furniture industry from Singapore.

According to him, the majority of investors in KIK are engaged in manufacturing industries. However, even though the number of companies has exceeded the target, Imam is reluctant to open the vote about the next target. "Businesses are getting more and more happy. It's quite moderate. It's still a process," said Imam in Surabaya, Monday (4/17). Based on Ministry of Industry records, the telecommunications infrastructure in Kendal is fully available. It's just that, for infrastructure in the form of roads and electricity is still in process. Meanwhile, land is not 100 percent available. Just so you know, KIK is an industrial area built by PT Kawasan Industri Kendal, or a subsidiary of PT Kawasan Industri Jababeka Tbk (KIJA) resulting from a joint venture (JV) with a Singaporean company, Sembawang Corporation (Sembcorp). As for the company, Jababeka holds a majority share of 51 percent.
