Kendal Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is bolstering its investment growth through the signing of three memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with companies in the synthetic leather, garment, and hospitality sectors. The signing took place on September 8, 2026, during the 2026 Central Java Investment Marketing Forum organized by the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming (BKPM) and witnessed by the Central Java Provincial Investment and One-Stop Service Agency (DPMPTSP).
The three MoUs involve Anhui Anli Materials Technology Co., Ltd. for the development of synthetic leather industry, Zhejiang Tongli Clothing Co., Ltd. for development of the garment industry, and PT Padimas Surya Makmur for development of a four-star hotel in Kendal SEZ. All three initiatives reinforce the region’s development trajectory, ranging from deepening industrial supply chains to expanding business and hospitality activities.
Anhui Anli Materials Technology Co., Ltd
Anhui Anli Materials Technology Co., Ltd. is a company based in Hefei, China, established in 1994 and focused on the development and production of ecological functional polyurethane synthetic leather and polyurethane composite materials. Anli is one of the leading companies in this field in China and has been recognized as a National Manufacturing Single Champion Enterprise. The company operates 40 production lines with an annual capacity of 88.5 million meters of polyurethane composite materials and 70,000 metric tons of polyurethane resin. Its products are used in applications ranging from footwear, furniture, handbags, and sports goods to automotive interiors and packaging, and have been exported to more than 80 countries and regions. Anli’s presence in Kendal SEZ will strengthen supply chain integration with various industries that have developed in the region, particularly fashion, footwear, furniture, and other related manufacturing sectors.
Zhejiang Tongli Clothing Co., Ltd
Meanwhile, Zhejiang Tongli Clothing Co., Ltd. is part of the Tongli Clothing Alliance, a Chinese OEM/ODM apparel manufacturing network that serves various global brands such as UNIQLO, Levi’s, Zara, and H&M. Tongli also has production capabilities across various apparel categories, including fashion wear, yoga wear, and activewear, supported by a Quick Response model that enables more flexible production and a faster response to market needs. Tongli’s presence will certainly further strengthen the integrated fashion and garment industry ecosystem that is flourishing within Kendal SEZ.
PT Padimas Surya Makmur
On the other hand, PT Padimas Surya Makmur, an existing tenant in Kendal SEZ, is expanding its business by developing a four-star hotel within the zone. This development is part of the growing demand for hospitality and supporting facilities as the number of companies, workers, and business activities in Kendal SEZ increases. The hotel will also be developed in partnership with an experienced hospitality operator, thereby supporting both accommodation needs and the region’s expanding business activities.
Juliani Kusumaningrum, Executive Director of the Kendal SEZ said, “We view these three commitments not only as an increase in business activity in industrial park, but as part of how the Kendal SEZ ecosystem continues to evolve.”
According to Juliani, industrial growth—which has driven increased economic activity and job creation in the region—will naturally create new demand for various supporting services. “As industry grows, the region’s needs also evolve. This includes not only the need for labor and supply chain support but also hospitality, commercial spaces, business services, and various other supporting facilities. “We want this development to proceed in tandem so that Kendal SEZ doesn’t just become a place where industries operate, but evolves into an increasingly vibrant economic ecosystem,” she continued.
This development aligns with the spirit of the 2026 Central Java Investment Marketing Forum, which promotes investment growth by strengthening green industries, advanced manufacturing, and supporting infrastructure. For Kendal SEZ, industrial strengthening and ecosystem expansion are part of the zone’s journey toward creating increasingly integrated and sustainable long-term growth.
