Industry Minister Saleh Husin said the Kendal industrial area (KIK) was encouraged to be the center of a labor-intensive industrial area. In KIK, a special fashion area that will be integrated from upstream to downstream will be developed. “The development of fashion city in KIK is very good because nowadays many garment and textile industries have started to move to the Central Java region,” said Industry Minister Saleh Husin in the Industrial Zone Kendal (KIK) Central Java, Friday (06/24/2016).
Minister of Industry added, if this continues to be developed, it can be correlated with other supporting industries. “In this case the garment and textile industry will absorb a large workforce in Kendal,” said the Minister of Industry. Minister of Industry said, currently, KIK has provided facilities through the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), namely a 3-Hour Investment Permit service. It has also been established as a priority industrial area on the island of Java after Gresik. Hopefully, this facility can be an attraction for investors to invest in Indonesia.
The Minister of Industry hopes that his party can invite a number of industries to invest in Indonesia. Currently, KIK is also completing infrastructure development to support the logistics and distribution in the region. “Dry port facilities to transport containers when connected to railroads or toll roads, it will be easier and cheaper logistics costs,” he said. Meanwhile, a joint venture between PT Jababeka Tbk in collaboration with PT Sembcorp Development Pte (Singapore) disbursed investments of nearly 8 trillion in building the Kendal Industrial Park in Central Java.
