Godrej Expands Indonesian Manufacturing Capacity with New ProductionFacility in Kendal SEZ

Over a century of experience in the consumer products industry, PT Godrej Consumer Products Indonesia (GCPI) continues to strengthen its business and manufacturing capabilities in Indonesia through the inauguration of a new production facility in the Kendal Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Central Java. This facility serves to bolster the company’s production capacity while supporting Godrej’s business growth in Indonesia and the regional market.

With a business history dating back to 1897, Godrej Consumer is a global FMCG company whose products reach over 1.4 billion consumers across more than 85 countries. The company operates in various regions including Asia, Africa, and Latin America, focusing on home care, personal care, and hair care categories. Guided by the tagline “Bringing the goodness of health and beauty to consumers in emerging markets,” the company continues to develop relevant products that meet the needs of consumers in diverse markets.

In Indonesia, Godrej’s journey began in 2010 with the acquisition of PT Megasari Makmur. More than 15 years later, its products have reached approximately one in four Indonesian households, featuring a portfolio of brands such as HIT, Stella, Mitu, and NYU. HIT holds the number one position in the household insecticides category, Stella is a leader in the air care category, and Mitu leads the baby wipes category. This growth has been supported by domestic manufacturing capabilities, enabling Godrej products to be manufactured closer to consumers.

Built on a 55,000-square-meter site with an investment of around IDR 500 billion, Godrej’s production facility in the Kendal SEZ has been completed and officially commenced operations on October 6, 2026, in line with the company’s plans. This facility is part of Godrej’s strategy to expand its manufacturing capacity in Indonesia, the construction of which began with a groundbreaking ceremony in August 2025. The facility is expected to employ a total workforce of around 500 people.

“The inauguration of the production facility in Kendal marks an important step in strengthening our manufacturing capabilities in Indonesia. Central Java plays a strategic role in Godrej’s business growth, and the presence of this facility is part of our efforts to bolster production activities while delivering a positive impact on Kendal Regency. Indonesia itself is one of Godrej’s key markets, and we see strong growth potential to further expand our business here,” said Rajesh Sethuraman, CEO of PT Godrej Consumer Products Indonesia.

Juliani Kusumaningrum, Executive Director of Kendal SEZ, stated that the commencement of operations at the Godrej facility forms part of the development in the zone’s increasingly diverse and value-added manufacturing activities. “The inauguration of the Godrej factory demonstrates the growing confidence in Kendal as a production hub for companies with global business networks. The realization of this production facility shows that the Kendal SEZ is capable of supporting companies not only in facility construction but also in conducting manufacturing operations and sustainably growing their businesses in Indonesia. We hope that Godrej’s presence will generate a broad positive impact on Kendal Regency and Central Java—through job creation, industrial activity, and involvement in the supply chain.”

In addition to boosting production capacity, this new facility integrates sustainability principles into its operations. This commitment aligns with Godrej’s ‘Good & Green’ agenda, which encompasses the development of more sustainable products and packaging, environmental stewardship, and community empowerment. Consistent with Godrej Indonesia’s established practices, the company will also implement community empowerment programs at the Kendal factory as part of its contribution to the surrounding area.

With the commencement of operations at this new facility, Godrej is expanding its manufacturing capacity and capabilities in Indonesia. As for Kendal SEZ, the presence of this company which boasts over a century of experience and a global consumer base, further strengthens the park’s role as a manufacturing hub for multinational companies conducting production activities in Indonesia.
